Brahms im Sextett

Sun, Mar 9, 2025, 17:00
Stefano Succi (Violin), Grace Kyong Eun Lee (Violin), Dashiel Nesbitt (Viola), Peter Zelienka (Viola), Valentin Scharff (Cello), Ulrich Horn (Cello)
The Frankfurt Radio Symphony is a regular guest in Alsfeld with its chamber concerts. This time, musicians from the orchestra will present Johannes Brahms' two string sextets. The String Sextet in B flat major, Op. 18, and the String Sextet in G major, Op. 36, are among the masterpieces of string chamber music. Alongside the "German Requiem", they ultimately helped the young Brahms achieve his musical breakthrough. Even though he later dismissed them as "long, sentimental pieces," they continue to fascinate with their irresistible tonal appeal and melodic beauty.
